We are developing social commerce within VK — a new format for shopping where users discover products through clips, videos, posts, communities, and other content types, and the entire path to purchase takes place within the ecosystem. Our systems already store over 500 million products, with which millions of users interact daily.
The team is developing a key part of VK's product vertical. Everything related to the main component: the product card, as well as showcases, checkout, cart, and so on. The team tackles ambitious and interesting tasks aimed at developing and expanding the use of products within the social network.
Tasks
- Develop and design backend in Go and KPHP within a monolith
- Design new services, APIs, and inter-service interactions
- Work with large volumes of product data
- Participate in the selection and implementation of PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, ClickHouse, and other infrastructure solutions
- Solve performance, scalability, and fault tolerance issues as the product grows
- Work on product tasks at the intersection of products and other VK services
- Participate in architectural and technical elaboration of new product features
- Consistently reduce legacy and technical debt in the domain
Requirements
- Backend development experience of two years or more
- Good knowledge of Go and practical experience using it: concurrency, context, testing, profiling
- Experience in developing and operating production services
- Understanding of distributed systems architecture: APIs, databases, caching, queues, inter-service communication
- Ability to understand existing code and safely migrate functionality between systems
- Experience with code reviews and team development
- Independence in technical task elaboration and willingness to participate in engineering decision-making
Bonus Points
Experience with PHP/KPHP, but deep knowledge of the language is not required at the start.
