About Us Midpoint is a new proprietary trading desk on the crypto markets, operating on its own capital. We are an international team of graduates from leading universities. The desk has its own infrastructure: historical data, backtesting as a service, paper and live trading with a single codebase. We are looking for a researcher to develop desk strategies and bring them to live trading.

▪️Responsibilities ▫️Develop strategies on spot and perpetual futures: market-neutral and directional. ▫️Test hypotheses on historical data: trades, candles, funding, open interest, market capitalization. ▫️Build backtests with honest costs, margin considerations, and overfitting control. ▫️Use AI agents in the research cycle: hypothesis exploration, backtest code generation, review, report analysis. The agent's output is verified by a human, and mass hypothesis exploration is considered when assessing overfitting. ▫️Take strategies through paper trading to live trading and monitor discrepancies between live results and backtests. ▫️Participate in auditing external quant strategies.

▪️Requirements ▫️Experience in mid-frequency trading and bringing strategies to production: your alphas have traded live — you either brought them yourself or your team did. ▫️Python for data analysis. ▫️Working-level statistics: hypothesis testing, multiple comparisons, result robustness assessment. ▫️Understanding of crypto derivatives: perpetual futures, funding, basis, margin, and liquidations. ▫️Experience with backtests that account for commissions, slippage, and look-ahead bias. ▫️Experience working with AI agents for code and data analysis (Claude Code, Codex, or similar): ability to assign tasks to agents, verify their code, and not accept results without human oversight. ▫️English at a level sufficient for reading scientific articles and working in an international team.

▪️Conditions ▫️Fixed salary and bonus based on the profit of strategies you have brought to live trading. ▫️Probationary period of several weeks, followed by a review of the bonus component. ▫️Ready-made data and infrastructure: focus on strategies, not on data loaders. ▫️Full-time employment ▫️Remote work

▪️Selection Process ▫️Short call. ▫️Pilot project for 4–7 days: implement a known approach from crypto market research as a strategy within our risk profile, backtest on our engine, iterate based on feedback. ▫️Technical review of the pilot and final interview.
