Data Engineer for the SQL SWAT Team
About the Team
We are a team of engineers that helps analysts complete their tasks quickly and with quality, using the company's adopted solutions, tools, and standards. Our goal is to ensure data is updated in the warehouse on time with control over completeness and quality, using process automation and management of the base data layer.
Examples of Future Tasks:
- migrate calculations to Trino;
- optimize the data mart: reduce the volume of DDS reads, optimize the calculation model;
- investigate data discrepancies between the Vertica mart and the new Trino mart.
You will:
- support the migration from Vertica to Trino: transfer data marts, update dependencies of transferred marts;
- maintain and develop automation services for migration (translation, reconciliation, dependency changes, historical data reload);
- optimize queries and the data model in calculations;
- transfer heavy data marts (>1TB);
- transfer non-optimal data marts: optimize to fit within quotas;
- reduce the share of Vertica in the volume of stored data.
We expect you to:
- have experience with analytical DBMSs (Vertica, Snowflake, ClickHouse, StarRocks, Presto, Trino, etc.);
- know what executing an SQL query means for a DBMS and understand how to optimize analytical queries;
- have experience developing data marts;
- have experience developing data processing pipelines.
