UI/UX Designer (Mobile Applications for Apple Watch / watchOS)
About the Company and Team
Do you love a healthy lifestyle? Want to design user-friendly, modern interfaces for innovative products in the Health & Fitness sector? Looking for an opportunity to gain real-world IT experience and become part of a friendly international team? If you answered "yes," then we are looking for you!
We are a young and ambitious company, Martspec, developing a mobile application ecosystem for people who care about their health and fitness. We are currently actively developing a line of applications for Apple Watch and are looking for a UI/UX design intern. You will help us design interfaces for wearable devices – making them clean, minimalist, contrasting, and maximally user-friendly on a small screen.
If you are looking for a place where your work will be an excellent career start, and your portfolio will feature a real, working case for watchOS – join us! 🚀
Format and Culture
- Full Freedom: Flexible schedule, 100% remote work from your own device. No strict working hours or requirements to be always online.
- Stress-Free Work: We believe that rigid deadlines are counterproductive. We work at a comfortable pace.
- Asynchronous Communication: Communication happens in Slack. Due to time zone differences, we are usually online from 18:00 to 21:00 Moscow time. Calls are rare.
- Evironmentally Conscious: Within the team, we only discuss the project. Political, religious, and other sensitive topics are left out.
- Human Approach: Need to disappear for a couple of days for personal reasons? No problem, just inform the team in advance.
What You Will Get
- Real Experience: Work with the standard stack of a modern IT team: Jira (Kanban), Slack, Figma, GitHub, Apple TestFlight.
- watchOS Specifics: You will learn to design UI considering the limitations of small screens, work with data density, complications (info screens), and Apple's guidelines.
- Strong Portfolio: You will make a significant contribution to products used by people worldwide and be able to add this rare and valuable case (Apple Watch design) to your resume.
- Support and Prospects: You will have a mentor to help you get settled.
Candidate Expectations
- Task: Designing interfaces for Apple Watch based on the templates and design system of our existing products ("Magnesium," "Iron," "Protein," "Vitamin").
- What to do: Adapt application logic for watch screens, design clean interfaces, work with dark, contrasting themes, and visualize charts and watchOS control elements.
- Plus points: Basic understanding or willingness to quickly learn Apple Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) for wearable devices.
Working Conditions
- This is an unpaid internship lasting 2–3 months. We offer this format as intensive practice: you invest your time, and we provide you with real product tasks, infrastructure, mentorship, and the opportunity to gain a strong commercial case.
- How to Apply (Important!) We receive a lot of applications, so we only consider candidates with a cover letter and a completed test assignment.
Test Task:
Our users need the ability to back up their data (export to a file) or restore it (import from a file). We need to design this flow for the iPhone version of the application.
