Customer Reliability Engineer at Yandex 360

Yandex 360 is a virtual office for teamwork: corporate Mail, Disk, Documents, Video Conferencing, Messenger, Boards, Tracker, and Wiki. We are creating an ecosystem used by millions of people and thousands of companies.

Our on-premise division is responsible for delivering these services to the closed environments of large corporate customers (Enterprise). These are complex distributed installations with high requirements for security and reliability.

We are looking for a CRE engineer (Customer Reliability Engineer) who will become the bridge between the customer's infrastructure and our development, ensuring the reliable operation of our products on the client side. You will face various tasks within the customer's infrastructure. This is an ideal role for those who love complex Linux challenges and want to see the business impact of their work.

What tasks await you

Solving complex technical tasks You will investigate incidents that the first and second lines of support could not resolve. You will analyze logs, network traffic dumps, Linux kernel behavior, and database operations to find the root cause (Root Cause Analysis).

Operations and implementation You will help customers deploy and update Yandex 360 installations on their servers — you will work with heterogeneous environments where the 'hardware' and network are not under our direct control.

Work automation You will need to write scripts and tools (Python/Bash), as well as create playbooks.

Influencing the product You will be responsible for system reliability, providing developers with high-quality feedback 'from the field', and helping to adapt service architecture to the realities of on-premise operations.

Building communications You will communicate with technical specialists and system administrators on the side of large customers.

We expect you to

• Have experience with databases: know the basics of PostgreSQL and S3-compatible storage administration, be able to write simple SQL queries and read database logs
• Have deep Linux knowledge: understand how the OS works 'under the hood' (memory, processes, disk subsystem, namespaces), know how to use strace, tcpdump, lsof, perf
• Understand networks: be familiar with the OSI model, TCP/IP protocols, know how DNS works, load balancing (L3/L7), be able to diagnose network problems
• Know how to program: write in Python for routine automation, be proficient in Bash
• Be familiar with containerization: understand the principles of Docker/Containerd, have experience with orchestrators (K8s)
• Possess empathy: be ready to dive into customer problems and not just 'close tickets', but genuinely solve the task

It will be a plus if you

• Have worked in roles such as SRE, DevOps, or system administrator in HighLoad projects
• Know configuration management systems (Ansible)
• Can work with monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
• Understand CI/CD processes
