Lead PHP Developer / Backend Team Lead (Laravel, Highload, AI)
We are looking for a Lead PHP Developer / Backend Team Lead to work on an international cybersecurity project.
The work format is fully remote. It is necessary to be outside the territory of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, GMT+1 – GMT+4.
The project involves the development of high-load solutions in the field of digital privacy and security. The products are used by millions of users worldwide.
We are looking for a strong backend developer who can combine technical leadership and hands-on development: develop the team, participate in architectural decisions, and write code independently.
About the position:
This is a player-coach Team Lead role: the specialist will be responsible for the development of the backend direction, development quality, technical solutions, and team development.
A significant part of the role is not only writing high-quality code but also using modern development approaches, including AI tools for accelerating processes, analyzing solutions, and improving team efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Development of the backend team: task distribution, developer support, code review, development of engineering practices.
- Design and development of backend solutions.
- Development of new features, services, and integrations.
- Working with high-load systems, optimizing performance and data handling.
- Refactoring and improving existing Laravel code.
- Participation in architectural decisions and selection of technical approaches.
- Task decomposition, complexity estimation, and assisting the team with planning.
- Using AI tools in development: code analysis, accelerating development, finding solutions, and improving process quality.
Tech Stack:
PHP 7.4 / 8.*, Laravel 7/8/11, MySQL 8, Redis, Memcached, Nginx, Node.js, Git, Composer, SQL, Eloquent ORM, Linux.
What is important:
- 7+ years of commercial PHP development experience.
- Deep practical experience with Laravel (7/8/11), Eloquent ORM, API development, and service architecture.
- Experience in designing and developing high-load systems, understanding bottlenecks, performance optimization, and server resource utilization.
- Solid SQL skills, experience in query optimization and working with MySQL.
- Practical experience with queues, caching, and asynchronous processing (Redis, Memcached).
- Experience with Nginx, Linux/*nix environments, Git, Composer.
- Experience in conducting technical reviews, task decomposition, and making architectural decisions.
- Experience working with existing large code projects: analysis, refactoring, improving code quality and maintainability.
- Skill in applying AI tools in development to accelerate processes, analyze solutions, and improve code quality.
- English language proficiency from B2+.
