Charitable foundations "Old Age for Joy" and "Grandchildren" announce the start of the all-Russian campaign "Gift a Walk". From May 25 to May 31, they will help elderly people and people with disabilities go outside — many of them haven't been out for months. Applications from volunteer organizations for participation in the campaign are open until May 10.
Why this is important:
- The opportunity to get fresh air is a basic need for every person. But for many, many elderly people and people with disabilities, it is an unattainable dream. Not so much because of illness, but because of the need for accompaniment, due to the low accessibility of the environment. Curbs, stairs prevent them from going outside for years, and the person loses connection with the world and with themselves;
- Meanwhile, a walk is not just physical activity and fresh air. It is hope, memories (the scent of flowers, the rustling of leaves, even the bustle of the road), the realization that the person is not forgotten.
Three formats of walks depending on the needs of the beneficiary:
- "On wheels" — accompanying people in wheelchairs;
- "Hand in hand" — support while walking;
- "Special care" — walks with people with dementia and cognitive impairments.
Who can participate:
- NGOs, volunteer centers, student detachments, and corporate teams from any region of the country with a ready pool of adult volunteers of at least three people per team;
- Everything else — methodology, briefing, and communication with social protection — will be handled by the organizers. Applications are accepted on the website until May 10, 2026;
- The campaign will take place from May 25 to May 31.
