Lead Developer / Tech Lead WebRTC

Our team is part of Yandex's infrastructure. We help millions of people call each other via Telemost (Yandex's video conferencing), help autonomous vehicles deliver orders to their destination, and provide security and peace of mind for thousands of homes.

We build a platform for real-time media data transfer for various company services, we provide and maintain a cloud platform and SDK for data transfer for Yandex services.

We are looking for an experienced developer or architect with experience in WebRTC/RTP to strengthen our team. You will improve data delivery algorithms, design new integrations, and participate in the development of our platform.

What tasks await you

Research and Design You will search for and select optimal solutions for implementing algorithms and codecs, participate in R&D projects, and help shape the development directions of the media platform together with the research team.

Development and Technical Implementation The main stack is Go, the additional one is C++. You will develop and enhance media servers and signaling services, implement scaling solutions, and optimize existing Control Plane and Data Plane components. You will conduct code reviews and help strengthen the team's engineering culture. Participate in estimating timelines and risks, and in task prioritization.

We expect you to have

• More than six years of backend development
• Deep understanding of WebRTC, SIP, or RTSP
• Designed and maintained high-load distributed systems
• Understand how the network stack works
• Contributed to open-source servers (e.g., Janus, Medooza) or wrote your own solutions
• Know how to read and analyze RTP/RTCP statistics, work with WebRTC tools (WebRTC-internals, Wireshark)
• Can clearly articulate technical solutions and justify technology stack choices
• Ready to take responsibility for architecture and your own decisions

Will be a plus

• Developed in C/C++
• Know video codecs and media containers
• Know WebRTC standards (RFCs) and technology trends
• Participated in open-source projects related to WebRTC or media
• Deep understanding of libwebrtc or libdatachannel
• Have touched Erlang/OTP
