Hello everyone! 👋 International fintech company Paysonix is looking for a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) & Legal Counsel.

We are looking for a strong leader with experience in fintech / payments to head the Compliance department and take over the management of the legal function. The main focus of the role is Compliance, AML, Risk Management, and Regulatory. The company is currently in the process of obtaining an EMI license in Cyprus, so one of the key tasks is to support this process and further build the Compliance function. The role involves a hybrid work format in Cyprus.

What needs to be done: • Support the current licensing process and interact with the Central Bank of Cyprus; • Build and develop the Compliance and AML/CFT framework; • Manage AML, KYC/KYB, sanctions, Transaction Monitoring, and anti-fraud directions; • Build Risk Management and an internal control system; • Participate in the regulatory assessment of new products and markets; • Interact with banks, acquirers, Visa/Mastercard, regulators, and external consultants; • Oversee the Legal department and key contractual issues; • Form and develop the Compliance, AML, Risk, and Legal team.

What we expect: • 8+ years of experience in Compliance / Legal in the fintech, payments, or financial industry; • 3+ years of experience managing or building a Compliance function; • Practical experience in a licensed EMI or payment company; • Experience with licensing processes in the EU/EEA and interaction with regulators; • Strong expertise in AML/KYC/KYB, sanctions, and Transaction Monitoring; • Experience in Risk Management in a regulated financial company; • Good understanding of payment services, banks, acquirers, and payment systems; • Higher legal education; • English C1+; • Ability to be regularly present in Cyprus.

Experience with the Central Bank of Cyprus, CAMS / ACAMS / ICA certifications, building a Compliance function from scratch, and experience with crypto / digital assets will be a plus.
