The opportunity
Intch is a multi-platform subscription product. We run 10+ A/B tests in parallel on weekly sprints, so we make a lot of decisions fast, and some of them shouldn't be made at all.
We're hiring our first and only product analyst. This role isn't about building dashboards or answering data requests. Your job is to challenge product decisions with data, and to bring product insights nobody has asked for yet.
In practice, when a test "wins," you check whether it really did. When the team is confident in a hypothesis, you're the one asking what the data actually says. And when you spot something in the funnel or cohorts that changes the picture, you don't wait for a ticket. You take it to product with a recommendation.
You'll work directly with the CEO and CMO, and daily with Product, Marketing, Support and Dev. You'll have full autonomy and real influence on the roadmap. We'll judge you on whether our decisions get better, not on how many reports you ship.
What you'll do
- Challenge product decisions: pressure-test hypotheses before they go into a sprint, and question results that look too good to be true
- Look for insights across the funnel without waiting to be asked (activation, onboarding, paywall, conversion, post-purchase behavior) and turn them into concrete backlog proposals
- Dig into retention, churn (7d/30d+) and ARPU/ARPPU, segmenting by geo, platform, source, intent and behavior to find where growth actually comes from
- Own the full experiment cycle across 10+ parallel tests: hypothesis, metrics, guardrails, analysis, and a clear call to ship, stop, iterate or extend
- Make honest calls on small samples using a primary metric with guardrails, stopping rules, sanity checks and transparent assumptions, without false confidence
- Make sure the numbers can be trusted: validate tracking on critical paths (onboarding, paywall, purchase, renew/cancel/refund), measure broken events and get them fixed with engineering
- Build a shared language for metrics: a lean event taxonomy and glossary that Product and Marketing actually agree on
- Package findings into short, decision-ready memos, not black boxes
What we're looking for
- Product analytics experience in subscription products, especially funnel, onboarding, paywall and conversion
- A track record of changing product decisions with data. You've said "the data doesn't support this" and made it stick
- Strong experiment design and A/B interpretation: metrics, segments, guardrails, and telling a real effect from noise
- Cohort and behavioral analysis that ends in product actions, not averages
- Hands-on experience with Amplitude, Google Analytics and Google Sheets. You can build the full picture from what's available, without a DWH or BI
- You explain findings and uncertainty clearly to non-analysts, and you hold your ground when it matters
Nice to have: SQL for ad-hoc queries; Python for automating analysis and checks; experience building an event taxonomy, tracking plan or data QA process.
Relevant backgrounds: subscription mobile and web apps in edtech, health & fitness, wellness, productivity and consumer AI (Duolingo, Skyeng, Praktika, Headspace, Calm, Flo, BetterMe, Simple and similar). Growth analytics in app studios also counts.
Probably not for you if
- You see analytics as a service function, where you take requests, deliver reports, and someone else makes the decision
- Your only two modes are "wait for p < 0.05" and "it's obvious from the chart"
- You need a ready-made data warehouse and BI before you can start
- You think data quality is the developers' problem
How we work
You're the only analyst, so there's no request queue to hide behind and no one above you in analytics. We work in weekly sprints with many tests running at once and iterate fast.
