Fullstack Developer (Node.js / NestJS + React) — Payment Project

About the Project

We are building a payment gateway for the South Asian market: deposits and payouts via local mobile wallets (bKash, Nagad), an API for merchants, checkout, personal accounts, and a WooCommerce plugin. The project is live, with active merchants and transaction volume.

The codebase is compact and modern — no decade-old legacy code: NestJS + TypeScript on the backend, React on the frontend, all within a single, well-organized structure. The team is small, so you will be the primary developer on the project — with direct access to the product owner and no bureaucracy.

Your Responsibilities

• Understand the project (we will help: you'll have access to everything, and we'll explain how it all works) and gradually take ownership.
• Improve the reliability of payment logic: working with balances, processing webhooks from providers, retries, tests for key scenarios.
• Develop new features: integrating new payment providers, enhancing user accounts, fulfilling merchant requests.
• Maintain and refactor the frontend (React, three user panels: admin, agent, merchant).
• Monitor production: deployment via Docker + GitHub Actions is already set up, requiring maintenance and improvements.

The work is half about development and half about strengthening what already exists. It won't be boring: payments is a domain where every task has a clear purpose and a visible outcome.

Tech Stack

Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, PostgreSQL + TypeORM, Redis, Docker, GitHub Actions. Frontend: React, Vite, Axios — no heavy UI frameworks.

What We're Looking For

• 2–3+ years of commercial development experience with Node.js + TypeScript; experience with NestJS or willingness to learn quickly.
• Solid SQL and PostgreSQL experience: understanding what transactions are and why they are necessary when dealing with money.
• Experience with integrations with external APIs: authorization, webhooks, error handling, and retries.
• Working-level React skills: ability to create a page, form, table, and understand existing components.
• Meticulousness and independence: ability to understand unfamiliar code independently, ask questions, and complete tasks.

Bonus Points (not required)

• Experience with payment systems, fintech, or other systems where errors are costly.
• Queues (BullMQ / RabbitMQ), experience writing tests.
• WordPress / WooCommerce.
• English for reading provider documentation.
