YDB Development Team Lead

YDB is an open-source distributed fault-tolerant relational database that combines high availability, scalability, and performance. Together with the stack of serverless technologies, YDB allows building a data storage and processing system for the most complex and demanding applications.

YDB is also a platform for creating infrastructure components. We offer users not only reliable transactions on top of tables but also ready-made solutions based on the engine itself: persistent queues, federated queries, network disks for virtual machines (Yandex Network Block Store), and more.

Our mission is to provide the world with a fully open-source data processing solution. Teams creating similar products either develop closed-source systems or restrict access to the most complex tasks. We do neither. Scalability and openness are our key advantages.

What tasks await you

Leading a development team You will lead a C++ development team: hiring and onboarding engineers, distributing tasks, developing and growing team members.

Writing code in C++ For platform development, we write a lot in C++. Therefore, it is important that your code is efficient and clear.

Designing and developing YDB components You will design and implement platform components, embed analytical tables into Yandex services, and also come up with analytical tools.

We expect that you

• Have managed a development team of at least five people and want to continue doing so
• Have developed in C++ for at least five years
• Know everything typically asked in interviews: classic algorithms, data structures, etc.
• Understand that the best solutions are simple
• Have worked with multithreaded systems, know Mutex and Atomic, critical sections, transaction isolation, and understand why, when, and what
• Have developed distributed low-level (close-to-hardware) services or user-facing real-time services

Will be a plus

• Have worked on open-source projects
