Fullstack Developer for the Autonomous Transport Visualization Tools Development Group

Our team is developing Yaviz — a visualization tool for autonomous transport. It is used in the development of control, planning, perception algorithms, debugging sensor operations, and other components. This is one of the main debugging and analysis tools used by our colleagues — QA engineers, developers, and analysts — in their work. It is also used for data labeling to train our neural networks, for building test simulation scenes, and for visualizing their results.

What tasks await you

Development of new functionality You will develop new visualization tools requested by adjacent development teams to effectively solve their tasks (this almost always requires the developer to have not only frontend experience but also immersion in the specifics of the code running on the vehicle's computer, work with backend code for data preparation for visualization, and an understanding of how to work with 3D graphics in modern browsers).

Development of the computational server, visualization data preparation processes, and their storage format You will participate in developing algorithms for processing various types of geometry (lidar point clouds, road graph visualization, internal structures of algorithms operating in autonomous vehicle motion planning). You will develop and optimize the format for storing such data and develop metrics for the speed of our tools when working with it.

Supporting our development infrastructure You will develop the build and deployment system using internal Yandex tools. You will write autotests for user interface components, improve the codebase, and implement best development practices.

Improving UX You will improve user interfaces and the UX of interaction with Yaviz, implementing new convenient interfaces for solving everyday development tasks.

We expect that you

• Plan to develop as a fullstack developer or already have such experience
• Confidently know React, TypeScript, Webpack, Vite, and other modern frontend development technologies
• Are well-versed in modern browser APIs (we actively use WebGL, workers for performance improvement, OffscreenCanvas and WebCodecs API for decoding and rendering video in the browser)
• Feel confident in the Linux command line

Will be a plus

• Have experience with 3D graphics in browsers (WebGL)
• Have experience developing computational backends (we perform many calculations on the server side or the vehicle's computer, we primarily write in C++)
• Are well-versed in data compression algorithms
• Have experience developing autotests using Playwright
