ML Team Lead for Ranking in International Search

Our team is responsible for ranking in international Search. This is the core product function of 'Finding relevant documents and displaying them in the optimal order'. Search ranking is a complex, multi-component system, and our task is to make it convenient and scalable for high-quality work in different countries.

What tasks await you

Team Management You will lead a team of 5+ people and develop it: setting global goals, decomposing and achieving them, organizing the work of the team and stakeholders, controlling the entire process from task setting to deployment to production.

Scalable Search Ranking in New Countries You and your team will create search ranking in new countries from almost scratch to a competitive product. On this path, you will need to build a scalable system of models and processes, using best ranking practices, as well as implementing new solutions (for example, large language models (LLMs) or other SOTA approaches) in conditions of a small number of users and data.

Search Quality Your work will directly impact the quality of Search for millions of people using Yandex daily in various countries and languages. Improving Search quality is the most important task, and to achieve it, you will also need to engage in analytics and help develop online and offline Search metrics.

We expect you to

• Have experience leading a team of ML developers
• Be a strong ML specialist with experience in classical ML or NLP
• Be able to design and develop multi-component ML systems
• Have a good knowledge of C++ and Python
• Care about the high quality of the final product

• Have developed search or recommendation systems
• Have worked with LLMs
