A large, developing VPN service is looking for a specialist to complete the mobile app stack. Currently, users connect through universal clients (Happ, v2RayTun, etc.). The next step is to develop proprietary applications for iOS and Android. For this, we are seeking an individual who will build and manage this direction.
Role
You will be the sole mobile developer and manager of the entire app stack: architecture, development, releases, stores, support. There is no tech lead above you, and no legacy code below you — the apps will be built from scratch (or based on an open-source client, a decision we'll make together). The team includes a core developer (bots/backend), a server engineer, and a web developer — they will provide the API and infrastructure from their side.
Responsibilities:
- Develop iOS and Android applications using Flutter on top of the sing-box or Xray core (integration via native libraries).
- Integrate the applications with our API: subscription activation by key/link, status and traffic, server list.
- Publish the applications to the App Store and Google Play, and set up backup distribution channels (APK, RuStore).
- Configure CI/CD, crash reporting, and analytics.
- Moving forward, manage the direction: core updates, support for new iOS/Android versions, store requirements, feature development (split tunneling, whitelisting, server auto-selection, connection diagnostics).
Requirements:
- 3+ years in mobile development, with solid commercial experience in Flutter/Dart.
- Experience with the native layer: platform channels, ability to read and write code in Kotlin and Swift.
- Understanding of VPN architecture on mobile platforms — VpnService (Android), NetworkExtension (iOS) — or comparable system development experience and a proven ability to quickly learn such technologies.
- Full cycle of publishing to the App Store and Google Play based on personal experience: accounts, certificates, reviews, rejections.
- Independence: you will make and defend architectural decisions.
Will be a plus:
- Experience developing or forking VPN clients: sing-box (SFA/SFI), Hiddify, v2rayNG, Xray wrappers.
- Basic Go knowledge — to independently build and update the core and wrappers (libbox, libXray).
- Experience passing App Store reviews specifically for a VPN application (Network Extension entitlement, handling rejections).
- Experience with distribution via RuStore and direct APK.
