About the project

Transition from a foreign Power BI solution to a domestic DataLens.

Project tasks

• Data migration and preparation (main task pool):
  • In-depth study of the internal training course on working with ClickHouse and DataLens;
  • Analysis of data sources and inventory of existing Power BI reports.
  • Design and creation of data marts in ClickHouse, optimized for queries from DataLens;
  • Turnkey migration of Power BI reports to DataLens, including agreement with domain owners and preservation of key metrics;
  • Optimization of reports for specific business requests of domains.
• Technical support and optimization:
  • Resolution of performance incidents for migrated reports (including diagnosis and elimination of slow query causes);
  • Consulting and mentoring within the Data Lens community (over 150 users), as well as enriching the knowledge base on working with Data Lens;
  • Conducting workshops and writing methodological guides: "How to migrate a report", "Best SQL practices for ClickHouse", "Antipatterns in data marts";
  • Quality control of created data marts, including verification against requirements (metrics, data volume, relationship types).

Mandatory requirements

• Experience with ClickHouse DBMS - creation and optimization of data marts;
• Ability to optimize complex SQL queries and diagnose performance issues (including analysis of system tables and working with the query planner);
• Experience with data visualization tools — DataLens or Power BI;
• Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow) and data transformation tools (dbt, Zeppelin).
• Understanding of data modeling methodologies and experience creating data marts;
• Ability to create and maintain knowledge bases (document solutions and processes);
• Experience in migrating large volumes of reports from Power BI/Tableau to other analytical ecosystems (will be an advantage);
• Ability to explain complex technical limitations ("why you can't write a query like this") in simple and accessible language to product analysts and business representatives;
• Product thinking — the ability not just to transfer data, but to create convenient and fast solutions for the end user;
• Proactivity — the ability to independently identify potential problems in migration processes and propose solutions before incidents occur.
• Customer focus — the skill of direct interaction with data consumers (domains), the ability to carefully listen to their needs and promptly resolve emerging issues.
