Intern for the Avito analytics platform team. Participation in the migration of data marts from a legacy architecture to a new platform: translating SQL, optimizing queries, and automating with Python using LLM.
Tasks:
- Translate data mart SQL code from a legacy solution (Vertica) to the target (Trino)
- Rewrite and optimize SQL queries: study business logic, analyze execution plans, and improve calculation efficiency
- Compare migration results, identify data discrepancies, and investigate their causes
- Participate in team rituals — planning, syncs, retrospectives
- Use and enhance Python automation tools, including with LLM: write and iterate on prompts, apply RAG approaches for working with data context
Requirements:
- Studying in the 2nd–4th year of bachelor’s degree, 4th–5th year of specialist degree, or already holding a diploma in a technical, mathematical, or IT specialty
- Confident SQL skills: subqueries, window functions, understanding of OLAP specifics
- Python proficiency: understanding of for loops, ability to read and write simple scripts (Pandas)
- Experience with DBMS: PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Vertica, Trino
- Understanding of CI/CD principles, Git, and command-line interface
- English language proficiency sufficient for reading technical documentation
