The FinOps platform provides a universal API for all Yandex services to process payments. When you make a purchase on Market or pay for a Taxi ride, the payment goes a long way from the service through us to one of our more than 20 processing partners. Our platform enables payments in dozens of countries — from Russia and the CIS to South America and Africa. We handle over 25% of all online payments in Russia, which involves colossal loads. Our PCI DSS-certified card data storage is the largest non-banking card storage in Europe. Our availability requirements are extremely high, and the load sometimes doubles year over year.

Our team helps manage all this. Here's what we do:

• Eliminate architectural bottlenecks
• Change the technology stack if it no longer fits new realities
• Develop and implement controlled degradation plans in case of related system failures
• Enable seamless horizontal scaling
• Defend against DDoS attacks
• Envelop ourselves in monitoring and automation systems
• Ensure data consistency, as a payment is a complex entity with multiple states across different systems
• Write control and synchronization systems so that across all systems a payment has a final, common status if something goes wrong

Our stack:

• Python — for legacy components
• Go — we try to write all new things on it
• MongoDB — we are currently migrating away from it (and must do so with zero downtime)
• PostgreSQL — a lot of different and wonderful PG. We know how to shard and partition (we have our own automation for this) and also monitor its state. We have a lot of automation that lets us not worry about locks or long-running queries
• At Yandex, we really love our own technologies, so we use our own homegrown message broker for the queue broker and Yandex's MapReduce for the archive

What tasks await you

Writing code You will create new services to expand core functionality: subscriptions, credits. Adapt code to constant high and peak ultra-high loads. Expand the business functionality of the provider and implement new payment methods.

Infrastructure tasks You will need to ensure high system availability during datacenter failures, participate in on-call rotations to support the system and solve complex problems.

We expect you to

• Have more than two years of development experience in any popular object-oriented language
• Write in Go or Python or want to switch to them

Will be a plus

• Understand Unix principles
• Have experience with relational and non-relational databases, payment or billing systems
• Have developed systems according to SOX or PCI DSS requirements
• Know the ISO 8583 protocol
