Our team handles audience segmentation and sending push notifications to Yandex's mobile and web applications. When you receive a push notification about tomorrow's weather, a push notification offering to buy an elephant on Market, or a push notification asking you to rate a place you just visited—that's us :)

• User database: sharded MongoDB (load: 200k read/write operations per second).
• Notifications database: YDB (load: 150k read/write operations per second).
• Core business logic for sending pushes: Java 22, Spring Framework, JNI libraries for interacting with C++ components.
• User update services: C++, Logbroker.
• Dashboards/Reports: CHYT, YQL, DataLens.

What tasks await you

Maintaining an up-to-date user database You will maintain the user database: push tokens, coordinates, login status, client and business subscriptions.

Sending push notifications You will be responsible for sending pushes to Google Firebase, Apple Push Notification service, Huawei Mobile Services, RuStore, browsers.

Throttling notifications per user across all senders You will build reports, conduct experiments, and monitor push quality.

We expect you to

• Be interested in working on a high-load service
• Want to understand complex interactions at the intersection of backend, transport (FCM, APNS, Web) and mobile or web devices
• Be ready to support a service with 400 active users in the support chat
