Mann, Ivanov and Ferber Publishing House is looking for a Chief Editor for the "Modern Genre Fiction" department.
This is someone who is passionate about creating a great, multifaceted, and beautiful product together with the team. Someone who senses trends, sees development as inseparable from books and an enthusiastic team. The scope of tasks and the degree of responsibility are very high — relevant experience and a love for a fast-paced work environment are required.
Responsibilities:
- Portfolio development for their department — searching, selecting, approving projects. Launching projects, distributing them according to the matrix, and marketing packaging of translated and Russian-language books in accordance with the editorial strategy.
- Launching new book segments to the market.
- Developing and quarterly adjusting the editorial strategy and forming the product matrix in accordance with business goals and budget.
- Approving the design and printing parameters of publications, budgets, cover texts, print runs, and prices. Addressing current team issues.
- Regular sales analysis, research, and analytics.
- Managing the portfolio budget and ensuring target portfolio indicators (turnover, profitability).
- Regular participation in online meetings with management, editorial, and related teams.
- Participation in promotion events, external communications with partners and media representatives.
- Preparing a report on the work done upon the manager's request.
Candidate Expectations:
- At least 3 years of experience in book publishing (lead editor, chief editor, book project manager, department head, team lead). Proven experience in selecting and launching successful book projects.
- Knowledge of the foreign and Russian fiction market — assortment, genres, trends.
- Knowledge of printing and editorial/publishing processes.
- Knowledge of marketing research tools.
- Proficiency in business communication norms and etiquette, and the ability to build and maintain long-term partnerships.
- Experience in successful negotiations with authors and contractors.
- Basics of copyright and related rights.
- Publication (selection or development from scratch) of high-print-run books or successful book series.
- Independence, responsibility, ability to make the best decisions based on the situation.
- Strategic and analytical thinking. Systemic approach, ability to establish logical connections and see the big picture.
- Teamwork skills, ability to receive and give feedback.
