Context
Search, Recommendations, and Advertising is one of Ozon Tech's key departments, determining how buyers find and choose products on the marketplace. We develop services that form product showcases and directly influence the buyer experience, conversion, and business economics. Every day, millions of buyers order products from search and recommendations.
Our product team consists of 20 people, distributed across domains: buyer and seller experience, recommendations, and search quality. We are now looking for a leader who can raise the bar of product leadership in this area and give additional momentum to one of the most important loops for the company.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong product thinking. This is the main criterion. We are looking for a person with strong product intuition and proven leadership experience in a large b2c product, who knows how to find growth points, improve service quality, and turn complex user problems into understandable and implementable product solutions. You will have to work in a domain where there are no easy answers: you need to act at the intersection of user value, technical constraints, ML mechanics, and marketplace economics. Experience in e-commerce, search, or recommendation systems will be a plus.
- Technical background. Machine learning is widely used in our products: ranking models, foundation models, and LLMs in large-scale production systems. We expect the candidate to understand how ML systems, NLP / RecSys / LLM are structured, where the boundaries of technology application lie, and what trade-offs arise during implementation. Experience with LLM-based products will be a plus.
- Data-driven approach. We show billions of products to buyers daily and receive tens of millions of orders — this provides a huge amount of signals but requires a high culture of data interpretation. You need to be able to formulate hypotheses, design experiments, correctly interpret the results of A/B tests, and make decisions based on quantitative and qualitative signals. We expect strong analytical skills: confident work with metrics, statistics, and an experimental approach.
- Team management. You will manage product teams, develop people, raise the overall bar, set clear expectations, provide direct feedback, and hire strong employees. We expect proven experience in managing a team of product managers.
- Cross-functional work. In this role, you will have to work extensively with development leads, analysts, designers, and business vertical leads in adjacent teams. You need not only to be able to come up with optimal solutions but also to achieve their implementation, directing a large organization in the right direction.
What is NOT required from the candidate
- PnL management. PnL management is not part of this role's responsibility, as our team is not an independent business unit.
- Strategy creation. We have a formed understanding of key goals, priorities, and growth points. We expect not the creation of strategy from scratch, but the ability to strengthen and develop the current course: improve the quality of product solutions, find new opportunities within the domain, and help teams bring strong ideas to fruition faster.
Vision of Success
We expect that with the introduction of this role, one of Ozon's key areas will gain more momentum, depth, and a higher standard of product quality. Important growth opportunities will be identified and turned into strong solutions more quickly, hypotheses will be worked out better, and teams will bring complex initiatives to fruition more confidently.
For the candidate, this is an opportunity to take on a role of significant scale and influence in one of the company's most technologically rich product domains: to work with strong teams, complex ML-driven systems, and products that influence the choices and purchases of millions of people every day. The result should be stronger solutions for buyers, a greater contribution from the domain to key business metrics, and a more mature level of product leadership within the direction.
Work Format
Hybrid, 50% of the time in the office. Moscow / St. Petersburg, preferably Moscow, as the main part of the product team is located there.
