Title: Product analyst (Monetization)
Company: CIAN
Location: Moscow
Experience: From 3 to 6 years
CIAN is a public IT company, the largest real estate search service in Russia, and among the top 10 globally.
For over 20 years, we have been helping people solve issues related to residential and commercial real estate faster: find, evaluate, buy, rent, sell, lease, and formalize deals without risks.
About the Product Analytics Team at CIAN
- A Product Analyst is a full-fledged member of a product's discovery team.
- The analyst's role involves direct influence on product and business decisions: in research, hypothesis evaluation, and A/B testing.
- To select the most promising hypotheses and test them cheaply, we constantly improve our processes. We have a discovery grooming session where product managers, analysts, and designers discuss and prioritize ideas through collective voting. This way, everyone on the team can influence our focus areas.
- After selecting the best ideas, we work according to the double diamond process — first validating the problem, then the solution, to mitigate as many risks as possible before starting development.
Tasks to be Solved
- Product analytics for the auction-based monetization model (listing promotion in search results and on the map): decomposing monetary metrics, identifying growth areas, forming a backlog of research and prioritization together with the product manager.
- Design and conduct A/B tests: calculating MDE and sample size, CUPED and linearization, delta method for ratio metrics, isolating effects in parallel experiments. Developing methodologies for A/B testing on monetary metrics and with dual impact on sellers and buyers.
- Work closely with product managers and ML teams to increase the efficiency of Upsell and other monetization mechanics.
- Analyze monetary and product metrics, identify growth areas, and form a backlog of analytical research together with the product manager.
- Evaluate effects where classic A/B testing is not feasible: causal impact, regional tests, quasi-experimental approaches.
- Assess the potential of alternative monetization models (CPC, CPT, etc.): unit economics, developing mechanics with the product manager.
- Modeling and scenario analysis of the impact of auction initiatives on business revenue: forecasting effects before launch and verifying them afterward.
- Responsibility for significant areas of stream analytics and standalone turnkey projects: from clarifying business questions to providing and defending recommendations to product and business stakeholders.
Our Future Colleague
- Holds a higher education degree (technical / mathematical / economic). Preferred fields: applied mathematics, computer science, statistics, economic cybernetics, business informatics, information technology;
- Has 4+ years of experience in data analytics / product analytics, with 2-4 years of experience in monetization units.
- A big plus: experience with auction mechanics — bids and their assignment, ranking and impression distribution, charge mechanics, the impact of auction settings on revenue and seller behavior.
- Experience working with monetary metrics, financial analytics and modeling, conducting price-based A/B experiments.
- Practical experience in designing and analyzing A/B tests (calculating MDE and sample size, choosing criteria, working with ratio metrics).
- Proficient in SQL and Python, independent automation of calculations, and dashboard creation.
- Experience in evaluating effects without classic A/B testing (causal impact, regional tests, diff-in-diff) would be a plus.
