Remote Vacancy.
Children's book publisher Klavrika is seeking a Chief Product Officer.
Klavrika creates children's books that help children and parents discuss complex topics in a simple and lively way. We have a strong creative team, bold illustrations, humor, and products that solve real family challenges.
We are transitioning from successful individual launches to a managed product portfolio. We are looking for a CPO to build this system from scratch and be responsible for the results: what is released, why, how quickly, and with what economics.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct an audit of the portfolio, team, book creation process, and launch economics.
- Build the product journey: from idea through discovery, concept, and prototype to production, launch, and results analysis. Define an owner, entry and exit criteria, and the right to stop for each stage.
- Establish discovery up to the costly print run: validate the problem, concept, and demand with parents and children.
- Streamline delivery: roadmap, checkpoints, risks, release within agreed deadlines without compromising quality.
- Introduce measurable quality criteria for product modules (idea, cover, text, illustration, packaging) and a data-driven improvement cycle.
- Manage portfolio economics: cost price, selling price, margin, batch size, demand scenarios, stop-loss.
- Set goals for heads of departments and close any missing expertise.
Requirements:
- CPO or Head of Product who has personally built a product function: process, stages, metrics, team. Not someone who worked within an existing process, but created it.
- Practical discovery experience: you have stopped products before significant expenses and can demonstrate the data used.
- Portfolio delivery experience: managing multiple products, deadlines, resources, and priorities simultaneously.
- Commercial mindset: unit economics, margin, and LTV are as important to you as product value.
- Experience managing strong creative individuals without stifling their individuality.
- Initiative: you present diagnoses, options, and recommendations to owners, rather than waiting for tasks to be assigned.
- We consider candidates from various fields. The industry is not the main factor. Experience in building a complete product journey is crucial: from discovery and value validation to delivery, launch, and results analysis.
Authority and Team:
- Direct reporting to owners. The team includes heads of art, editorial, and product operations. Close collaboration with production, procurement, marketing, sales, and finance. Your authority includes portfolio priorities, product criteria, resource allocation within agreed limits, and recommendations to launch, refine, scale, or stop a product.
What We Offer:
- A first-level role with real impact on strategy and economics.
- Quick decisions directly with owners, without corporate bureaucracy.
- Freedom to design the product function as you see fit.
- Remote work format.
- Compensation and variable components will be discussed with finalists based on the scale of their experience.
In your cover letter, please briefly answer three questions:
- What product process have you built yourself? Stages and transition criteria between them.
- An example of a product or hypothesis you stopped during discovery. How did you validate it?
- How many people and of what roles were under your supervision?
