Sber is looking for a CPO (RnD ML).
Your environment will be early-stage projects (R&D, prototypes, MVP) with a high degree of uncertainty. You will transform raw technological capabilities into tangible business value. Importantly, your key task is not just to manage development, but to shape the product value itself. You will need to think not only about what's "under the hood" but also about its primary application across various user interfaces, choosing the most effective and seamless ways to deliver AI functions to the user. Finally, we expect a proactive stance from you in increasing awareness among users and business stakeholders: translating complex ML terms into the language of benefits, alleviating fears about AI, and shaping realistic expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Portfolio Strategy: Manage a portfolio of projects at the strategic level — define the balance between quick wins (MVP) and long-term R&D investments, allocate resources across projects to maximize overall business value.
- People Management: Build and develop a team of product managers: hire, onboard, mentor, establish career paths. Create an environment where every product manager grows professionally and feels responsible for their product.
- Strategy and Requirements: Independently form the backlog based on market analysis, stakeholder feedback, and technical capabilities.
- Hypotheses: Formulate product hypotheses and validate them quickly with minimal resource expenditure.
- Lifecycle Management: Plan PoC/MVP from scratch, and integrate new technological features into existing mature customer products.
- Communication and Negotiation: Build effective interaction with cross-functional teams (development, research, business), negotiate priorities, deadlines, and data delivery, defending your product's interests.
- Technical Synergy: Collaborate with team leads to find optimal solutions where none exist.
- Risks and Priorities: Manage risks at all stages, balance between the "ideal solution" and tight deadlines, focusing the team on achieving key goals.
Requirements:
- Managed a portfolio of ML products.
- Have experience in people management: hired, grew, and developed a team of product managers (or technical specialists).
- Understand ML architectures, training and inference principles, have worked with LLMs, and know how to transform their capabilities into products.
- Able to achieve results through argumentation and data, not pressure. Work with deadlines rigorously but without exaggeration.
- Proficient in systemic risk management: foresee problems on the horizon and prevent them, rather than putting out fires.
- Able to focus the team on the main priorities and cut out the unnecessary — both at the product level and at the portfolio level.
Conditions:
- Comfortable modern office near Kutuzovskaya metro station.
- Hybrid work format.
- Annual salary review, annual bonus of 3+ salaries.
- Large gym and recreation areas.
- Training system for professional and career development.
- Expanded VHI policy from day one and insurance for family.
- Employee mortgage program with a discount of -1/3 of the current rate.
- Prime subscription with the possibility of sharing with three close individuals.
- Reward for recommending friends to the Sber team.
