What is a Staff Engineer

This is a profession that has recently formed within our company. Many developers face a dead end: the only way forward is to become a team lead, but not everyone is interested in that. At T-Bank, there is another path — Staff Engineer.

T-Bank has introduced a separate career track for architects and tech leads with unique skills who want to continue developing and performing functional leadership. If you are interested in continuing to grow as an engineer, being responsible for architecture, writing code, working with AI agents, and implementing best practices — this format is for you.

What we expect from candidates

• You have 5+ years of development experience and 2+ years of experience as an architect or tech lead.
• You have a strong understanding of one of the development stacks: Java, Python, Go — and are ready to write code.
• You have skills in designing high-load distributed systems.
• You have experience in involving development teams in solution design.

Experience applying ML in developed systems will be a plus.

Architect / Tech Lead / Java / Python / Golang

(Senior / Lead)

We are looking for experienced specialists who want to have more influence on technology and remain engineers, rather than moving into management for career growth. The Staff Engineer role is an alternative to the team lead path: instead of managing people, you will develop engineering culture and define the technological vector of products.

You will be responsible for designing architecture with influence beyond a single domain and working with cross-functional teams — from gathering requirements to deploying changes to production.
