Python Developer for the Internal Services Development Team of Autonomous Transport

Yandex aims to make the movement of people and goods safer, more accessible, and more convenient. We have set an ambitious goal: to be among the first companies in the world to create autonomous vehicle technology. To make this a reality, we are assembling a team of passionate and dedicated professionals.

Our team develops the tools that deploy the autonomous fleet on missions every day — both test missions for gathering statistics and simulation, as well as missions solving users' everyday tasks. We are also responsible for developing inventory, accounting, and maintenance tools for the autonomous fleet.

We work closely with other services and exchange information about transport, its components, electronic waybills, and task information. We need a Python developer who will create new services and improve existing ones.

What tasks await you

Designing and implementing new system components You will be responsible for working out solutions, developing the architecture and code of services, and bringing them to production.

Developing and improving components For this, you will analyze system problems and participate in refining the architecture, improving, or building its parts from scratch. We constantly work on the quality and stability of our components.

Developing the planning algorithm We solve complex algorithmic problems that allow us to optimally distribute our fleet across locations and assignments. Given the growth of the fleet and the increasing number of models, we plan to develop our algorithm and make it more flexible.

We expect you to

• Have a deep knowledge and love for Python
• Have experience in designing architecture, launching services from scratch, refactoring large-scale solutions
• Have extensive experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, and know how to optimize queries
• Be well-versed in modern Python frameworks (FastAPI, Django)
• Have written and integrated RESTful APIs, understand HTTP, JSON, and know how to document APIs
• Know how to build test infrastructure, automate CI/CD (at least at the GitLab level)
• Know authentication methods (OAuth, JWT), protection methods (CSRF, XSS)
• Be able to quickly analyze, find, and fix bottlenecks in complex systems
• And most importantly — want to influence the business and product, not just close tickets

Will be a plus

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, clouds (any provider)
• Love writing clear code documentation, have the habit of writing Docstrings and using Sphinx (or similar)
• Are proactive, not afraid to propose changes, know how to implement them convincingly
