The Editorial Department of Educational and Developmental Literature is opening a vacancy for the Chief Art Editor.
We are looking for a creative, thoughtful, and technically savvy professional who is inspired by the idea of creating visual images that can not only attract but also help in learning. This is a job at the intersection of creativity and educational mission.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing creative concepts for book design (covers and internal layouts) for preschoolers and schoolchildren;
- Researching the market and proposing solutions that will stand out among educational literature;
- Developing technical specifications for publications and typographic solutions;
- Overseeing the art design process: from concept to finished product;
- Organizing the work of art editors;
- Interacting with editorial teams and designers, both internal and external;
- Monitoring deadlines, quality, budget, and payments for design work.
We expect from you:
- At least 4 years of experience as an Art Director / Chief Art Editor in a publishing house, advertising agency, or magazine editorial department;
- A portfolio with examples of educational, children's, or developmental literature (primers, manuals, workbooks, etc.);
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat);
- An excellent sense of composition, color, typography, and an understanding of audience needs;
- Independence, accuracy, attention to detail, and respect for deadlines.
