Developer at Tasklets

The Tasklets system provides an interface in various programming languages for running applications in cloud environments. The service allows you to write an application in Python, Go, Java, Node.js and then run it in your automation processes. The service's task is to ensure the application runs in one of the runtimes, taking into account environment requirements, and then provide transparent information about what happened to the application.

Our team makes running such applications more reliable and efficient, and the analysis of results more convenient and faster.

About the team

Tasklets is a service critically important for Yandex's infrastructure. It is actively developing: we are growing by approximately two times each semester. We have a large backlog of product ideas. There is on-call duty: sometimes it is necessary to respond to notifications, investigate the root cause of a problem and eliminate it, or fine-tune the notifications themselves.

We are a distributed team: employees are located in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Belgrade. In a related team, there is also a UI developer and a designer with whom you will occasionally collaborate.

What tasks await you

Designing and developing business features We design and implement solutions in accordance with business needs. Examples of such tasks: supporting the launch of tasklets in a separate network with restricted network access or limiting the number of concurrently executing tasklets.

UX and tech debt Improving UX is one of the priorities for product development. We will need to come up with and implement solutions together that will make diagnostics easier for the user and thereby save time for thousands of developers. The service has little accumulated tech debt, and we strive to keep it that way. For this, we allocate time to eliminate legacy issues.

Major challenges Your task will be to provide an alternative for users with special requirements that cannot be met in the existing runtimes. It will also be necessary to enable the rapid launch of the simplest tasklets that do not require a complex environment.

We expect you to

• Be proficient in Go
• Know how to develop distributed systems
• Have worked with relational databases
• Are capable of independently designing a feature, seeing the advantages and possible drawbacks of the adopted design

Will be a plus

• Know the gRPC framework
• Have worked with YDB or ClickHouse
• Can evaluate the benefit of implementing a feature for the end user
