Possibility of business trips to production facilities (details to be discussed during the interview)
For a large-scale project of transitioning from 1C:UPP to 1C:ERP / 1C:ERP.UH, we are seeking a Functional Architect / Lead Expert in the area of “Production Accounting, Cost Accounting, and Cost of Goods Sold Calculation”.
We are looking for a specialist with deep practical knowledge of 1C:ERP mechanisms, capable not only of describing customer requirements but also of designing the target accounting model considering the architecture and limitations of the standard 1C:ERP/ERP.UH solution.
Key Responsibilities
- Analysis of the customer's current methodology for production accounting, cost accounting, and actual cost of goods sold calculation in 1C:UPP and other existing systems.
- Designing the target model for cost accounting and cost of goods sold calculation in 1C:ERP / 1C:ERP.UH.
- Adapting the customer's current methodologies to the mechanisms, analytics, and methodology embedded in 1C:ERP/ERP.UH.
- Identifying functional gaps between the current methodology/1C:UPP and the target system, and preparing options for their resolution.
- Designing analytical dimensions for cost accounting and cost of goods sold calculation.
- Modeling complex production scenarios and their impact on cost and cost of goods sold formation.
- Developing options for reflecting production:
- using production orders and production stages;
- using "Production without Orders";
- mixed scenarios;
- multi-stage production;
- production of semi-finished and finished goods;
- allocation of direct and indirect costs.
- Analyzing the movements of production documents across 1C:ERP registers and the impact of the chosen transaction reflection scheme on cost of goods sold calculation.
- Designing and conducting model examples for various production accounting options.
- Analyzing the results of cost of goods sold calculation and formulating requirements for control and analytical reports.
- Participating in the design of standard functionality enhancements and preparing functional specifications for developers.
- Analyzing problems during the execution of routine month-end closing operations, identifying root causes of cost of goods sold calculation errors, and developing solutions.
- Providing expert support to analysts, consultants, and developers within the project team.
Mandatory Requirements
The candidate must have deep practical experience with 1C:ERP 2.x and/or 1C:ERP.UH and a solid understanding not only of user functionality but also of the internal logic of the cost accounting and cost of goods sold subsystem.
Critical knowledge required:
- 1C:ERP production cost accounting mechanisms;
- cost allocation mechanisms;
- actual cost of goods sold calculation algorithms;
- cost accounting and cost of goods sold analytics;
- structure and purpose of the main accumulation registers and information registers used in cost accounting and cost of goods sold calculation;
- cost of goods sold detailing mechanisms down to initial/primary costs;
- production documents and the movements they generate;
- production stage mechanisms;
- "Production without Orders" scenario;
- month-end closing mechanisms regarding cost allocation and cost of goods sold calculation;
- methods for diagnosing errors and incorrect cost of goods sold calculation results.
We need a specialist who can independently take a real business case and go through the following chain:
customer methodology → business process → 1C:ERP documents → register movements → cost allocation → cost of goods sold calculation → cost of goods sold detailing → accounting reflection and result control.
Requirements for Architectural Competencies
The candidate should be able not just to replicate existing 1C:UPP processes in the new system but to determine how to implement them correctly using 1C:ERP/ERP.UH tools.
We expect the ability to:
- correlate customer methodology with standard ERP mechanisms;
- propose several implementation options and compare them with justification;
- determine where changes to the customer's methodology/process are necessary, and where system enhancements are needed;
- minimize unjustified deviations from the standard 1C architecture;
- assess the impact of a solution on month-end closing, performance, and transparency of cost of goods sold calculation;
- form the functional architecture of the solution and create high-quality development specifications.
Significant Advantage
Experience in 1C development. The ideal candidate is a functional architect / coding consultant who can:
- read 1C program code;
- analyze document posting algorithms;
- find the generation of register movements;
- understand standard cost allocation and cost of goods sold calculation algorithms;
- work with developers to localize the causes of errors;
- create prototypes or small enhancements independently if necessary.
The architect must understand the system at the level of metadata, registers, movements, and program code, not just the user interface.
This important requirement is well supported by a reference profile: the specialist is proficient in platform configuration and the 1C language, and on an ERP.UH project, directly developed an extension optimizing the standard cost of goods sold calculation code for multi-stage production with detailed cost calculation.
Desirable Experience
- Participation in large-scale 1C:ERP/ERP.UH implementation projects at manufacturing enterprises;
- Experience migrating from 1C:UPP to 1C:ERP/ERP.UH;
- Experience with multi-stage, make-to-order, and complex production accounting;
- Designing cost accounting and cost of goods sold calculation methodology;
- Experience working with large volumes of data;
- Optimizing month-end closing;
- Participation in surveys, conceptual design, modeling, and pilot operation;
- Experience interacting with IFRS/Tax accounting methodologists, production departments, and developers.
The Specialist We Are Ultimately Looking For
We are not looking for an analyst who knows where documents are located in ERP, nor a pure cost accounting methodologist.
We need an expert at the Functional Architect / Solution Architect level for production accounting, who simultaneously understands:
production accounting methodology + 1C:ERP architecture + internal cost accounting mechanisms + registers + production documents + month-end closing + basics of 1C development
