About the role
The Head of Department is responsible for the full cycle of corn and sunflower seed production: from forming the product portfolio and interacting with breeding to organizing cultivation on contract farms and controlling raw material quality before transfer to the plant.
This is a key role that directly impacts the company's economics and product quality.
Tasks and scope of responsibility
Product portfolio formation
- Formation and management of the corn and sunflower hybrid portfolio
- Balancing the portfolio by maturity groups (FAO), regions, and hybrid types
- Setting tasks for the breeding unit based on market and demand analysis
Seed production management
- Organization of parent line and hybrid cultivation
- Control of cultivation technology compliance
- Management of plant protection, nutrition, and yield processes
- Ensuring stable raw material quality
Work with partner farms
- Search, selection, and development of partner farms
- Contract signing (cultivation conditions, economics)
- Control of technology and contract term compliance
- Management of partner relationships
Interaction with the plant
- Quality control of raw materials supplied to the plant
- Participation in planning loading and processing operations
- Control of key seed processing stages
- Impact on the final result and quality of finished products
Team management
- Team leadership (agronomists, document management specialist)
- Task assignment, performance control, employee development
Economics and budget
- Production cost management
- Control of cultivation and processing costs
- Optimization of seed production economics
Regulations and accounting
- Work with GIS and specialized systems
- Control of compliance with seed production requirements
Requirements
Mandatory
- Deep expertise in corn and/or sunflower
- Understanding of the full cycle: breeding, seed production, industrial cultivation
- Experience with hybrids and parent lines
- Practical experience in production management in agriculture
- Understanding of cultivation, plant protection, and nutrition technologies
Desirable
- Experience with contract farming
- Understanding of agricultural production economics
- Experience interacting with processing / seed plants
- Experience in seed companies or large agricultural holdings
Conditions
- Location: Krasnodar (relocation is negotiable)
- Business trips, mainly in the South of Russia (Stavropol, Kabardino-Balkaria, Astrakhan, etc.)
