Hands-on Tech Lead (Full-stack & AI)

About the company:

CleverLabs is a software company that has been working on WEB and API products since 2015. They work with long-term teams and clients in the USA, UK, EU, and MENA.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor frontend, backend, and AI/ML teams, managing architecture, integrations, and delivery quality. • Translate product priorities into specific tasks with acceptance criteria and coordinate dependencies. • Evaluate MVPs, decide what to keep, refactor, or rebuild, balancing speed and reliability. • Review code and architecture, verify the work of the front-end, back-end, and AI layers. • Research third-party services, select integration options, and conduct technical negotiations with partners.

Requirements:

• 8+ years in production development and experience leading engineers; English level C1 or higher. • Experience in a Tech Lead / Engineering Lead / Engineering Manager role with responsibility for product delivery. • Strong experience in Python, ability to review backend code, and make architectural decisions for full-stack systems. • Experience with production API integrations: validation, retries, idempotency, error handling, and data consistency. • Practical understanding of LLM integrations, tool calling, structured outputs, and model evaluation. • Experience in mentoring, implementing code review practices, testing, and release processes; a sound approach to data security.

Will be a plus:

• Experience leading a small startup team for front-end, back-end, and AI/ML. • Experience in travel, loyalty, benefits, or payments; familiarity with MX, Stripe, Method is beneficial. • SOC 2, enterprise security reviews, or participation in technical due diligence. • Optimization skills, graph search, constraint solving, or rules engines.
