Interface Developer for Music

Yandex Music is one of the largest music streaming services in Russia. We create a product that helps users find their favorite music, set the mood, and share emotions with others. Our collection includes tens of millions of tracks, curated selections from our music editors, personalized recommendations, as well as podcasts, audiobooks, and music videos. We are currently actively migrating legacy code to new technologies and approaches and are looking for a strong developer to join our product team and help with this task.

About the team

• Our team develops music features for both the Yandex Music website and desktop applications for Windows and macOS.
• We handle everything related to listening to tracks, albums, playlists, and interacting with 'My Wave'—our primary recommendation system.
• The main goals of our team are to bring joy to our beloved users and artists.
• We are a fun, young, and friendly team: we try to spend time together—for example, by attending meetups together, and in our free time, we participate in hackathons and play games.

What tasks await you

Feature Development You will release new features to delight users. The tasks will vary: from small interface improvements to complex product scenarios with non-trivial technical implementation.

Interface Optimization You will work on client-side optimizations and server-side rendering (SSR) to keep the interface fast and stable.

Development of UI Library Components You will need to participate in developing the design system and React component library. This will speed up development and simplify communication between designers and developers. The system is based on design tokens, and Storybook is used to demonstrate results, which is deployed in the internal infrastructure via CI.

Care for Developer Happiness User happiness is our priority, but we don't forget about developers either. You will develop internal tools: from code linting to routine automation, prevent the accumulation of technical debt, and allocate time for refactoring. You will also apply modern practices—for example, using the Feature-Sliced Design methodology when developing applications.

We expect you to

• Have a strong command of vanilla JS, React, HTML, and CSS.
• Understand clean code and clean architecture principles.
• Enjoy writing unit and E2E tests and understand why they are necessary.
• Have experience with Node.js and Next.js.

Will be a plus

• You listen to music on Yandex Music :).
• Are inspired by developing entertainment services related to music, movies, and games.
• Have experience developing applications on Electron.
• Participate in conferences, meetups, hackathons, Tech Talks, and CTF events.
