It emerged from our practice of working with digital products and is based on the same processes, standards, and mindset. Currently, we continue to work and publish under the Versions brand, gradually transitioning to the name Obel.
We are looking for a designer to join the Obel team and work on digital products for a major bank in the Middle East. This is long-term work within an international team, in the context of digital transformation and the development of a complex banking ecosystem.
We work with products where design does not exist in a vacuum, but within a large organization — with its processes, regulatory constraints, technical debt, and diverse stakeholder interests. In such an environment, design is a way to organize complexity and help the system evolve consistently, without abrupt and ill-considered moves.
Working in a large bank quickly highlights weaknesses: in thinking, argumentation, communication, the ability to work with uncertainty and constraints. This is not always easy, but it is precisely in such an environment that mature product thinking is formed — the ability to see the system as a whole, understand the consequences of decisions, and find optimal solutions that work within the real system.
We need a designer who:
– thinks systematically and can break down a product into levels: goals, constraints, roles, scenarios, dependencies – confidently works with interface architecture, states, and interaction logic – understands the connection between UX solutions and business logic, processes, and the structure of the organization – is able to work in a complex environment through clarity, argumentation, and solution quality, not through pressure – brings solutions to a state that the team can live with, maintain, and develop further – is aware of their role in the team and knows how to establish professional boundaries
– work within one of the bank's product verticals – receive tasks and requirements directly from the business side of your vertical – collaborate with the product and related roles within your vertical – be part of the overall bank's design direction, work with other designers and the design lead – report to the Head of Design and work within the overall design strategy and standards – work in an Agile process: planning, iterations, syncs, demos – participate in working discussions and meetings in English – work within a given product and organizational framework, gradually improving the system, not breaking it – design scenarios, interface architecture, roles, states, and transition logic
Communication in the project is direct and unambiguous, but correct and professional. We discuss difficult issues, do not avoid responsibility, and do not substitute activity for real work.
We do not encourage overtime and chaos. The process is structured so that the designer can work sustainably, long-term, without burnout. However, this is a work environment, not a "picnic": here, there are complex tasks, system resistance, and the need to see solutions through to results.
– experience working with digital products (FinTech, banking, SaaS, platforms, complex services — a plus) – strong foundation in UX and interface architecture – experience working in Agile teams – experience interacting with business and product teams – ability to clearly formulate and argue for decisions – confident working and conversational English (daily communication is in English) – attention to detail while maintaining the big picture – ability to work in long cycles and complex contexts – independence within one's area of responsibility
– work in an international team within a major banking product – participation in real digital transformation, not superficial redesigns – embedded work model and a clear, mature process – long-term cooperation
