The Vera Hospice Charity Foundation is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
For 20 years, the Vera Hospice Charity Foundation has been developing access to palliative care in Russia. It helps terminally ill children, adults, and their loved ones receive comprehensive medical and social support, wherever they are in the country. It supports hospices and NGOs across Russia and develops the professional community.
They are looking for a CFO to build the "financial foundation" for the entire Vera foundation group. The foundation is growing and needs not just a controller, but a strategic partner for management: someone who can transition money management from a "manual" mode to a systematic, transparent, and predictable one.
Your goal is to ensure that every donated ruble is accounted for, protected, and directed precisely where it's needed. And that you can always say: "I know how much money we have, where it's going, and what will happen in six months."
Responsibilities:
- Financial Architecture. Develop a unified financial model for the group with consolidation by programs, sources, and grants. Implement end-to-end budgeting (plan/actual/forecast). Participate in resource allocation among programs.
- Accounting Department Management. Ensure impeccable accounting across all legal entities, unify accounting policies, and close tax risks. Build the accounting department's work as a clear conveyor belt with regulations, deadlines, and responsibilities.
- Reporting for NGOs. Be responsible for external reporting: Ministry of Justice, donors, grantors, and the targeted use of funds. Establish a system for collecting and consolidating data so that preparing any report takes hours, not weeks.
- Management Accounting and KPIs. Develop transparent management reporting with dashboards for leadership. Introduce financial KPIs for each program and legal entity to evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives.
- Control and Procurement. Audit processes, eliminate excessive and add missing controls. Create unified, transparent procurement rules that exclude unjustified expenses.
- Digitalization. Design and assist in implementing a centralized financial management system.
- Participate in the selection and setup of accounting systems; the budget is approved.
Requirements:
- Higher professional education
- Experience as a Chief Financial Officer / CFO in a group of companies
- Experience implementing budgeting and management accounting from scratch or complete overhaul
- Understanding of NGO specifics - desirable (grant reporting, Ministry of Justice, targeted funds) or readiness to quickly immerse yourself
- Experience managing a centralized accounting department and consolidation
- Experience selecting accounting systems and designing them (defining requirements, testing)
- Willingness to visit NGOs and hospices, communicate with teams and program managers (Your work is about people, not just numbers)
Conditions:
- Opportunity to work in the largest charitable foundation in the country
- Official employment, social benefits in accordance with the Labor Code of the Russian Federation
- 5/2 work schedule, flexible start time for the workday
