Android Developer for the Geo Team of Yandex Go Superapp

The Geo team develops the geoplatform that forms the core of key Yandex Go services: Taxi, Delivery, Scooters, Lavka, Food, Drive, and others. We create solutions related to the map and determining the user's location. Our products help the driver find you and help you get from point A to point B.

Every day, millions of people use our solutions: taking a taxi, delivering a gift, riding a scooter, ordering a romantic dinner, etc. For these scenarios to be successfully completed, we need to determine the address, render objects on the map, process special zones, help find a car or courier, provide the ability to select an address on the map or via text, save an address to favorites, etc.

We are a small team and are ready to give you as much autonomy and responsibility as you can handle. You can take on entire projects end-to-end and handle them completely: from product and architectural design to rolling out an experiment to users. You can also propose and defend your ideas – this is encouraged.

In our work, we use Kotlin, Coroutines, Flipper, JUnit, Espresso, Robolectric, a well-tuned CI/CD, and an automated release pipeline.

What Tasks Await You

Product Tasks You will work together with a product manager to solve complex tasks: how to make airport and railway station pick-ups more convenient, how to determine user location if GPS is not working. You will need to explore various options for informing users about taxi stop restrictions or routes to the pick-up point.

Application Quality You will investigate complex and interesting issues, optimize code, and be sure to share this knowledge within the development team. Our goal is 99.99% crash-free.

Participation in Team-Wide and Local Tech Projects Tasks await you such as creating perfect in-app navigation, development through small example projects, working with modular architecture, and any refactoring.

We Expect You To

• Be able to design reliable architectural solutions and write clean, maintainable code in Kotlin
• Understand modern approaches to multithreading and asynchrony
• Love product tasks and are motivated to improve user experience
• Be ready to delve into complex tasks and propose effective solutions

It Will Be a Plus If You

• Have developed using Jetpack Compose
• Have worked with geoservices (maps, routing, geolocation)
• Know algorithms and data structures necessary for working with spatial data
