Backend Developer for Managed Service for PostgreSQL

Our product is a service for managing clusters of the popular object-relational database management system PostgreSQL in Yandex Cloud infrastructure. Managed Service for PostgreSQL is a convenient, scalable, and fault-tolerant tool. We ensure the operation of all major Yandex services.

We are looking for a developer who will be responsible for infrastructure tasks, service scaling, and fault tolerance.

Tasks awaiting you

Improving the reliability of the PostgreSQL fleet You will improve cluster monitoring, identify and resolve the most common issues. Additionally, you will need to reduce the number of erroneous operations and monitoring alerts as the number of clusters grows.

Managing the lifecycle of major PostgreSQL releases You will need to ensure the timely launch of new major versions and extensions for them, as well as prepare mechanisms for updating or decommissioning clusters of older versions.

Developing and maintaining Go API You will refine and stabilize the Go API, fix bugs, and implement new functionality.

Completing the MVP of a new service As part of the quarterly plan, you will need to finish developing the MVP of a service that automates key processes for PostgreSQL support and operation, including managing updates and monitoring.

Other tasks You will optimize and automate database maintenance; modernize extensions and modules; be responsible for security and access management; implement Connection Manager; and organize monitoring and metric visualization.

We expect you to

• Have a good understanding of PostgreSQL architecture
• Be proficient in Go or Python
• Have designed fault-tolerant services
• Write reliable code
• Be willing to investigate complex problems

Will be a plus

• Knowledge of open-source database infrastructure
• Familiarity with containers and their orchestration systems (Kubernetes)
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure, monitoring systems, configurators
