Java Developer at AI VK, Moscow

The AI department team develops artificial intelligence technologies for key company products, develops a content recommendation and search system on our platforms, so that 95% of RuNet users can quickly and effectively solve their tasks using VK services.

The AI VK online recommendations team is engaged in forming personalized feeds based on user profiles. To do this, we select tens of thousands of content candidates from dozens of sources, and then in several stages, we select only the most relevant ones for the user, resulting in a small number of content units. For each feed, we track the quality of recommendations based on many parameters, conduct A/B tests, and evaluate their impact for the constant evolution of the system. Each request is processed on a sharded cloud cluster consisting of 100k CPU and 250Tb RAM.

Responsibilities

• Develop fault-tolerant, scalable, high-load microservices in Java, configure monitoring, and deploy them to production.
• Implement infrastructure for flexible configuration of ML experiments and the recommendation pipeline.

Requirements

• You know Java or have developed in any modern language and are ready to switch to Java.
• You know algorithms and basic data structures.
• You want to learn or know how to work with big data and high-load systems.
• You love technically complex tasks and optimizing code.
