We are looking for strong analysts to join the Yandex Market team. We have 4 main areas of work and a variety of tasks — everyone can choose what suits them best:

Marketing

We analyze user acquisition and retention across all platforms and provide recommendations. We study the effectiveness of key marketing activities and promptly focus teams on identified growth points.

B2B

The goal of the B2B analytics direction is to maximize the partner's benefit from working with Market. We research partners' interaction with our services, help create new effective promotion tools, study partner satisfaction when working with these tools, build funnels for onboarding new and retaining existing partners, and develop reward and cashback schemes for working with partners and agencies.

Platform Efficiency

We establish the marketplace rules of the game to find a balance between the interests of stores, users, and ourselves. To do this, we calculate optimal tariffs, work on search result relevance, and find the best offers for the user.

Product

We answer questions about our users and the market we operate in. We find all the necessary information for making product decisions. We are engaged in searching for new growth points and potentially new business models. We conduct a huge number of experiments, study user behavior, and help create convenient tools for them to solve their tasks.

We hire people, not functions, so if the proposed directions don't suit you, but you are sure you have something to contribute — please respond, we will definitely come up with something.

Now a bit more specifics about our main analytics stack:

• SQL-like syntaxes and an internal Python library that allows for finer MapReduce customization — for primary data work
• Python, R — for data processing and exploration
• Tableau — for quick hypothesis testing and operational access to key data
• As a bonus, a whole suite of internal Yandex tools for process automation, visualization, and more
• Mathematics and statistics for data-driven decision making
• When creating instruments or in one-off calculations where performance is critical, there is analytical code review from colleagues — analysts and developers
• ML depending on the tasks: usually these are simple predictors, scoring, and segmentations. But there are also serious analytical tasks heavily dependent on the quality of created models and processes. For example, demand forecasting and warehouse stock replenishment, where any mistake costs a lot of money

• Think analytically
• Know SQL and have used at least one programming language in your work (preferably Python)
• Be able to see the physical meaning behind numbers and find the causes of phenomena
• Have a good knowledge of mathematics and master the basics of statistics
• Be able to argue your point of view and listen to criticism
• Be open to new knowledge and ready to learn
