Scala Backend Developer in Verticals

Verticals is a business unit of Yandex. It encompasses several major products united by a single vector - the development of classifieds (bulletin boards) in areas important for life. Within it, we have created a Scala development bootcamp that will help you choose the right team for you at the start.

As part of this program, you will work with two or three different teams within the unit to better understand their processes and development approaches, and you will land in the one that suits you.

What teams are part of the bootcamp?

• Auto.ru — we make the car buying and selling industry convenient, transparent, and safe. The main streams you can touch: the product itself, Search, Reports, Monetization, UGC, as well as a block for B2B users.

• The devtools team makes tools for Scala development. These tools speed up the work of hundreds of Scala developers daily and bring them joy from programming.

• The common components stream deals with the product infrastructure of Verticals. Tasks are often at the intersection of infrastructure and product. Clients include both end users and colleagues from product services. Here you can "touch" the internal message broker, user content platform, abstract internal content storage systems, notification services, billing, and much more.

What tasks await you

Development in Scala We conduct testing and release to production for millions of real users, as well as maintain the performance and operability of services: prevent and solve problems in production. Find the optimal solution between the speed of product changes now and the complexity of system development in the future.

Architecture design, participation and conducting of design reviews We broaden the horizons of employees, prevent the development of "reinventing the wheel," and monitor the description of the project architecture.

We expect that you

• Are familiar with Scala within commercial development experience or are ready to transition from another language
• Are ready not just to write code, but to be responsible for the entire product development lifecycle
• Can constructively discuss colleagues' solutions and present your ideas for general discussion
• Quickly learn new things, are open to mastering new technologies and approaches, including Scala and other tools we use
