UX Writer for AI
About the Role
We are expanding the Figma UX Writing team. While the title says ‘UX Writer,’ you can think of yourself equally as a Content Engineer — someone who uses language to influence how people interact with AI, from crafting high-quality input prompts to shaping clear and consistent responses. You’ll work deeply in cutting-edge areas, helping designers move faster and better from idea to product.
As a senior member of the UX Writing team, you’ll be involved in the highest-priority initiatives, defining new spaces at the intersection of AI, Design, and Development. If you value craftsmanship, write exceptionally well, and are passionate about new technology, we encourage you to apply.
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to the overall product strategy around Figma’s offerings.
- Define best practices for writing for AI products, from prompting to interaction patterns.
- Collaborate closely with Product Designers, Product Managers, Marketers, Engineers, Applied Scientists, AI Researchers, and fellow UX Writers.
- Manage language across a broad product surface area: create taxonomies, glossaries, and other artifacts for use by both humans and agents (AI).
- Measure and evaluate the quality of AI-generated text.
- Create, evolve, and iteratively improve the user experience.
- Help shape and clarify clear narratives about product needs and capabilities.
We’d Like to Hear from You if You Have
- 5+ years of experience crafting simple, intuitive text solutions for complex user scenarios.
- Skills to effectively collaborate in design and technical environments—e.g., Figma and GitHub.
- The ability to develop system-oriented, holistic product narratives that extend beyond individual strings.
- A strong understanding of the behavior and architecture of modern AI products and how they are built.
- Experience effectively engaging with cross-functional teams and leadership to drive alignment.
It’s a Plus if You Have
- Experience writing system prompts, designing agent behaviors, or building other AI features.
- Experience working directly with code, APIs, or other developer tools.
- Experience driving “0→1” initiatives in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
Our Values:
- We believe in hiring smart, curious people who want to learn and grow. If you’re interested in this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply. You might be the right candidate for this or another role.
