We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel with a deep understanding of Payments, PSP, and High-Risk FinTech to fully cover the company's legal operations.
Responsibilities: ▪️ Support the obtaining and maintenance of payment licenses (MSB, EMI, MiCA, PCI DSS, Visa/Mastercard) in various jurisdictions; ▪️ Monitor changes in international legislation (MiCA, PSD2/PSD3, AMLD); ▪️ Develop, review, and approve agreements with merchants, acquiring banks, payment systems, liquidity providers, and technical vendors; ▪️ Conduct legal assessment and structuring of new merchants, products, and business models in the High-Risk segment (iGaming, Crypto, FX, etc.); ▪️ Support interaction with banks and PSPs, including preparation of KYB packages for opening settlement and correspondent accounts; ▪️ Participate in the development of AML/KYC and sanctions policies, interact with MLRO and regulators; ▪️ Accompany external audits; ▪️ Handle claim and pre-litigation work with partners, clients, and acquirers, including issues related to chargebacks, fund freezes, and Visa/Mastercard fines.
Requirements: ▪️ 3–4+ years of experience as a Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel specifically in Payments, PSP, EMI, or High-Risk FinTech; ▪️ Deep understanding of payment architecture, Visa/Mastercard, chargebacks, rolling reserve, and merchant accounts; ▪️ Practical experience with international regulations: PSD2, AMLD5/6, FCA, CySEC, etc.; ▪️ Profound understanding of the specifics and risks of High-Risk verticals; ▪️ English C1/C2 — fluent negotiation, contract drafting, and communication with regulators in English.
Will be a plus: ✨ Experience in Crypto Payments / VASP / MiCA; ✨ Contacts and direct interaction experience with European regulators and acquiring banks; ✨ Experience in law firms focusing on FinTech / Gaming.
