An IT company Verme is looking for a Technical Director for the My Smena project — an Uber-like platform for attracting self-employed contractors.
Responsibilities will include:
Building a technological platform that:
- Can withstand a multiple increase in load (2-3 times per year);
- Ensures fault tolerance and uninterrupted operation (SLA ≥ 99.9%);
Maintaining a product structure where developers work in cross-functional teams under the guidance of a Product Manager.
You will definitely succeed if you have:
- 5+ years in development, including 2+ years as CTO, Director of Engineering, or Head of Technology in a fast-growing product IT company;
- Experience in managing engineering teams, including hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and building career paths;
- Experience transitioning from a monolith to a microservices architecture or building a high-load distributed system from scratch;
- Experience implementing AI/ML in product processes and managing DS/AI teams (data scientists, ML engineers);
- Experience building a product development structure where developers work in cross-functional teams with Product Managers, analysts, designers, and QA;
- Experience creating platform teams that ensure developer experience, infrastructure, architecture, and common services.
What is important:
- Deep understanding of high-load distributed systems architecture: microservices, event-driven, CQRS, caching, queues;
- Experience with databases at scale: sharding, replication, choice between SQL and NoSQL, query optimization;
- Understanding of DevOps and SRE practices: CI/CD, observability, monitoring, alerting, disaster recovery, SLA/SLO;
- Knowledge of modern stack: Go/Python/Java (backend), Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL/Clickhouse;
- Experience implementing AI/ML in production: MLOps, feature store, model serving, model drift monitoring;
- Understanding of security: data protection, authentication, authorization, compliance with regulatory requirements (FZ-152, 422-FZ).
Candidate Expectations:
- Strategic thinking: ability to build a technological strategy 2-3 years ahead, considering business growth;
- Leadership and mentorship: ability to inspire the team, develop engineering culture, grow team leads;
- Product thinking: understanding that technology is a tool for solving business problems, not an end in itself;
- Business communication: ability to explain complex technical solutions to CEOs, investors, and key clients;
- Results orientation: focus on SLA, uptime, release speed, rather than "beautiful architecture for architecture's sake";
- Change management: experience in process transformation, implementing new practices (Agile, Scrum, OKR).
Will be a plus:
- Experience in gig economy, marketplaces, HR Tech, logistics, or retail;
- Experience with integration with external APIs (SMZ platforms, client WFM/ERP, banks, Federal Tax Service);
- Understanding of regulatory requirements for employment platforms (FZ-422, 289-FZ);
- Experience with AI to improve team productivity: code auto-generation, AI review, autotests;
- Publications, presentations at industry conferences (HighLoad++, TechLead Conf, AI Journey).
