About the team

The DS Goods team solves business-specific tasks for Avito Goods. We build models for all stages of the business — from correct parameterization of listings at the point of posting to the delivery of goods to the customer. We interact with DS teams from auto-moderation and search, with business customers, analysts, and product managers. We use the latest models to achieve the best quality, while finding a balance between business results and development speed.

We are looking for a middle DS for the product matching project. Working on this project involves development in all domains of ML, interaction with developers, analysts, and the business.

Examples of future tasks:

• Deeply immerse yourself in the specifics of the business together with colleagues from the product side;

• Develop and implement end-to-end ML solutions: the full model creation cycle — from data collection and preparation to training, testing, and deploying models into production, as well as subsequent monitoring and performance optimization;

• Implement new algorithms for listing parameterization, determining product dimensions, and predicting customer propensity to take actions;

• Be responsible for the architecture, quality, and robustness of the implemented solutions and their impact on the business.

We expect that you:

• Have at least three years of experience related to ML and algorithms;

• Can make data-driven decisions and visually argue your decisions, explain complex things in simple terms, and negotiate with colleagues;

• Are ready to read scientific articles and find practically useful ideas in them;

• Know, can, and love to apply mathematics, ML, and applied statistics to create algorithmic systems, see the connection between mathematical formulas and their impact on the business;

• Have experience working on several parallel projects;

• Are not afraid to write production code.
