Network Engineer (SONiC) at Yandex Infrastructure

Yandex's network starts from the server network card and ends at the border routers, connecting several hyper-scale data centers. We develop management systems for traffic in tens of terabits, develop HPC infrastructure, and implement DPDK platforms for high-performance traffic processing.

We are looking for an architect / product owner who will help us develop our SONiC development team, acting as a "player-coach." This role requires not only a good understanding of modern chip lineups and ODMs but also experience in building development and testing processes for NOS.

What tasks await you

Development of your own SONiC branch If you wake up a network engineer and ask them to name network equipment manufacturers, they will name at least 4-5 companies without hesitation. The products of each of these manufacturers will have their own operational nuances, and supporting such a variety of products within a single network will be costly. At Yandex, we believe it is possible to have one Network Operating System to Rule Them All.

We expect you to

• Understand the principles of building large data transmission networks and the operation of major routing protocols
• Know one of the programming languages popular in the Unix environment (Python, Go, etc.) and know how to apply this knowledge to automate routine tasks
• Are familiar with the principles of incremental project development and are not afraid of cross-team collaboration
