Technology company in the telecommunications sector Teknolab is looking for a CTO.
An international technology company specializing in software development in the telecommunications segment and providing extensive telecommunications services for telecom operators, Tier 1 companies, wholesale and retail clients worldwide. They are participants in various international communities (Ripe NCC as an LIR, and others).
They are looking for a Technical Director – a leader with a strong management background, who knows how to build and scale processes, effectively manage technical teams, and create an environment where employees work productively and with engagement. This role is about process and people management, not hands-on expertise. The Technical Director will head the Technical Department, uniting the IT direction (development, administration, and infrastructure support) and the Technical Support teams working with internal clients and partners of the company.
Key tasks: strategic and operational management of the company's technical function, including the formation and implementation of a roadmap in accordance with business goals, and making management decisions within the area of responsibility.
- Ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the company's infrastructure and services
- Leading the Technical Department team (17+ employees)
- Planning team expansion in the department, making decisions on hiring and onboarding new employees
- Building, optimizing, and maintaining effective processes within the technical function
- Working with resources (ticketing system, test tools, etc.) - evaluating resources, maintaining records, and optimizing
- Distributing areas of responsibility within the team
- Decomposing tasks, setting priorities, and controlling execution
- Monitoring workload and taking measures to prevent professional burnout
- Managing the KPI system
- Motivating employees (materially and non-materially)
- Managing training, development, and mentoring processes for employees of the technical department
- Managing the psycho-emotional climate within the team
- Organizing regular communications within the department: team-wide work meetings, 1:1s for development and motivation, providing feedback to employees
- Maintaining team reporting: workload, efficiency, competency development, etc.
- Developing and implementing processes for interaction with related company functions (commercial, financial, and others). Eliminating gaps in inter-team communication
- Controlling the maintenance and relevance of technical documentation for processes within the area of responsibility
Candidate expectations:
- Management position in a technical field for at least 3 years
- Experience managing a team of at least 10 people (preferably with shift schedules)
- Experience in long-term planning and strategy implementation
- High level of management skills: managing motivation, team building, team management, control, performance evaluation
- Understanding of the department's tasks from a business perspective
- Process building - starting with analyzing current processes, finding solutions for optimization, building new processes, documenting them, implementing, and maintaining them
- Project management skills
- Experience in developing technical solutions/products and working with IT systems
- Developed communication skills: articulate speech and the ability to communicate with different types of people, conveying information in a positive, understandable way
- Ability to maintain a friendly team culture and influence the team without excessive bureaucracy
- High level of emotional intelligence and empathy
- Knowledge of English at B1 level or higher
Will be a plus:
- Experience in the telecom sector
- Understanding of modern IT technologies and trends
- Understanding of commercial processes
