For our client, one of the leading agro-industrial holdings in Uzbekistan, we are looking for a Chief Agronomist for Seed Production.
Work location: Uzbekistan (relocation is a mandatory condition).
Main purpose of the position:
Organization of a full cycle of crop production, starting from the selection and testing of seed material, development of agricultural technologies for cultivation, and ending with the production of export-quality products.
Main responsibilities:
- Selection, testing, and implementation of high-yielding seed varieties and hybrids.
- Organization of demonstration plots and trial fields.
- Analysis of climatic and soil conditions for the selection of optimal crops.
- Development of agro-technical maps for each crop.
- Planning of sowing campaigns and control of work execution.
- Control of soil preparation, sowing, cultivation, and harvesting.
- Development of plant nutrition and fertilizer application programs.
- Control of irrigation and water use systems (important).
- Quality control of seed material.
- Interaction with international seed producers.
- Conducting field trials of new varieties and hybrids.
- Analysis of crop yields and preparation of recommendations for their increase.
- Training farmers in modern cultivation technologies.
- Implementation of GlobalG.A.P., Organic, HACCP standards.
- Preparation of farms for international certification.
- Preparation of technical reports for investors and international financial institutions.
Requirements:
- Practical experience with vegetable, fruit, berry, and field crops.
- Experience in seed production or with international seed companies.
- Knowledge of modern drip irrigation technologies.
- Knowledge of plant nutrition and protection systems.
- Experience in organizing demonstration fields.
- Knowledge of English will be an advantage.
- Knowledge and experience in forage production irrigation are desirable.
