Project Manager (Intern) for the BareMetal Team

The infrastructure team is developing the BareMetal service in Yandex Cloud — a solution for dedicated server rentals. The product is designed for corporate clients who prioritize maximum performance, security, and full control over hardware: from installing their own virtualization system to building complex clusters on physical L2/L3 networks.

The service is actively growing, and we are making it as easy to manage physical servers as virtual machines. Related specialists assist with networks, console utilities, and equipment setup, while your future manager handles operational activities and process development.

During the internship, you will immerse yourself in the product and operational aspects of the service. You will have the opportunity to understand how a cloud provider works from the inside and influence the development of a technological product for businesses.

What tasks await you

Market and Competitor Research You will analyze server configurations and terms offered by other players, gather data, and prepare structured conclusions for the team.

Formulating Development Tasks You will document requirements in Jira for adding or changing server configurations and help correctly onboard tasks into sprints.

Task Tracking You will track task statuses, identify bottlenecks, inform the team about work progress, and interact with sales and related departments.

We expect you to — Understand the principles of how online services (web services with external clients) work and possess basic computer literacy: know what a processor, memory, and disks are, how a computer connects to the internet — Differentiate between major processor manufacturers (Intel and AMD) and be familiar with server hardware — Be able to create tasks in Jira and understand how project work is structured: where to ping people, negotiate, organize — Be proficient in Excel at a level sufficient for calculations and working with tables (simple formulas, pivot data) — Demonstrate persistence, activity, and genuine interest in technology, be ready to understand how a particular function is implemented, and search for information independently
