Analyst for Shared Rides in Taxi

Yandex Taxi is a taxi ordering service used for millions of daily rides in over 300 cities across Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia. Our shared rides team works to make trips cheaper and more accessible for users while ensuring drivers earn a decent income. Our goal is to provide taxi services to as many passengers as possible.

We work on all tasks typical for marketplaces: pricing, subsidizing, developing and improving driver assignment algorithms and ride-matching algorithms. We also handle analytics for both passengers and drivers, conduct marketing analysis, build dashboards, and run experiments. We are constantly evolving, generating hypotheses, and testing them in practice.

What tasks await you

Improve current algorithms and devise new ones We are in a constant process of improving the service: we create and implement new algorithms, rules, and technologies, analyze and optimize current solutions, striving to make them more effective. We figure out how to mathematically formalize the degree of ride compatibility, how to set an optimal trip cost that is beneficial for both the user and the driver, how to effectively detect fraudulent orders — and much more.

Experiment Our service is unique, and we constantly test various hypotheses. New ideas are checked using A/B and switchback experiments. You will independently plan these tests, develop their design, and analyze the results to make decisions based on the data obtained.

Work in a team We actively collaborate with related teams: managers, developers, marketers, lawyers, etc. You will need to cooperate with them effectively, adapting to various tasks and ensuring harmonious interaction to achieve the project's common goals.

We expect you to

• Have a good knowledge of mathematics and grasp the basics of statistics
• Be proficient in SQL and Python and not be afraid to master new tools and technologies
• Be able to see the physical meaning behind the numbers and find the causes of phenomena
• Be capable of arguing your own point of view and listening to others'
• Know English at a level sufficient for reading articles
• Understand that any analytics must be tied to business results
