Team Lead in Development at Yandex Crowd

Yandex Crowd is a major infrastructure service at Yandex. We use crowdsourcing to scale business processes: we annotate data, moderate content, conduct field research and testing. We also develop internal product functions: customer service, telemarketing, localization, and documentation.

We launched the crowdsourcing platform Yandex Tasks, participated in the launch of YandexGPT, the launch of Search in Kazakhstan, training Alice in Arabic and whispering, as well as many other Yandex projects.

We are currently working on projects that will improve the lives of our users. We are implementing AI agents, creating frameworks for building flexible data processing pipelines, using the capabilities of human and artificial intelligence. Some projects are completely new services, others are developed based on already existing solutions.

What tasks await you

Team Management You will lead a cross-functional team of developers: setting tasks, mentoring, conducting code reviews, and helping develop the team's skills. You will also ensure effective interaction with product managers, designers, analysts, and other stakeholders to achieve product goals.

Architecture Development You will implement new product features, design services for the Yandex Crowd platform, and review existing ones. Together with the team, you will develop the architecture for new scenarios: scale under growing load and integrate ML/AI components.

Strategic Planning You will participate in product roadmap planning, assess technical risks, and justify solution choices, considering their pros and cons. You will also stimulate innovation within the team, paying special attention to customer service efficiency and the integration of AI technologies.

We expect you to

• Have led cross-functional teams
• Have a good knowledge of Java or Kotlin
• Have optimized the performance of JVM-based applications
• Build and incrementally develop the architecture of complex systems, including highly loaded and distributed ones
• Understand the specifics of various data storage solutions (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.) and their application in product scenarios
• Analyze situations before proposing solutions, evaluate trade-offs, and be prepared to justify them
• Are interested in product development, understand the business context, and motivate the team to achieve common goals

Will be a plus

• Experience with infrastructure tools (Kubernetes, Kafka, Redis) and DevOps practices
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience in improving developer experience within a team
