Team Lead for the IDM Team

IDM (Identity Manager) is a high-load platform for managing employee roles, critical for the work of 130,000+ users and 1000+ internal Yandex systems. On this platform, employees can send a request to grant a role for almost any internal system, receive role approval, after which IDM sends the role to the system. New systems are connected in self-service mode and can build their own automations around the platform.

What tasks await you

Technical Leadership You will manage a team of 5–6 experienced backend developers, participate in architectural decisions at the entire Platform Engineering level, and be involved in hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers.

Rethinking Architecture Your tasks will include the gradual replacement of legacy components with modern microservices, optimizing work with data (PostgreSQL, Kafka), and implementing SRE practices to improve fault tolerance.

Product Development You will launch new employee role management features, create services from scratch where old approaches no longer work.

We expect you to have

• Over five years of experience developing highload systems
• Managed teams of five or more people
• Deep understanding of microservice architectures and their pitfalls
• Worked with PostgreSQL, Kafka, Kubernetes
• Can explain the trade-offs of your decisions to both technical specialists and the business

Nice to have

• Experience in IAM or security
• Know Go, Java, Python at a level enabling you to conduct code reviews
• Understand CI/CD processes for critical systems
